The thing about friends..
The thing about friends is that it takes effort to be a friend.
As an adult, and as a mother I feel like I focus less and less time on my
important friendships because I am focusing on
my family and my husband.
The house being clean.
The tons of laundry screaming to be washed.
What I forget is that friendship is a need.
You have to work to be a good friend.
And sometimes its hard, hard work.
Sometimes that friend is waiting on you to reach out,
waiting on you to return that phone call,
to send a text to let them know you are thinking of them,
to drop by to help with their kids.
It's hard to make genuine friendships as an adult,
But as I chatted on the phone the other day with a very sweet friend to me,
it felt awesome.
It felt just like it did pre-kids,pre-hubby, pre-military moves.
whew, what a relief to know there are friends out there who can forget about the time that's gone by.
I agree with this 100%, it does take work to be a good friend and sometimes it can be really difficult.
ReplyDeleteI agree! I try to always touch base with my friends, but sometimes life does get busy.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I think that's just what happens with age. Life takes over!
ReplyDeleteEspecially, the older and more responsibilities we get. ;)
ReplyDeleteI wish I had more friends sometimes. I know I'd be a good one! My social anxiety really keeps me from meeting new people. I'm just blessed to have my husband and my mom!
ReplyDeleteAmen! We all have jam packed schedules but sometimes you just gotta make the time if that friend is worth it!
ReplyDeleteI feel you! As I get older I seem to get more shy. Which is totally unlike me. I guess you just have to practice those type of skills lol ;)
ReplyDeleteYeah, absolutely!
